FAQ about Enterprise Ethernet

I want Enterprise Ethernet (EE) for my business, what are the benefits?
  • Enterprise Ethernet offers symmetrical speeds, meaning your upload speed is the same as your download speed, and that’s lightning fast!
  • Enterprise Ethernet can support cloud based computing, video conferencing, and heavy usage across your whole business with ease.
  • Enterprise Ethernet runs on a complete fibre network including a business grade NTD with direct access to the fibre access node. The service also has a low contention ratio and, as a result, doesn’t suffer from congestion compared to other services.
  • If you currently have a FFTN/FTTC or HFC connection and want to migrate your server to the cloud, or use a cloud based PABX but your current TC4 service is not good enough to handle that traffic – nbn® Enterprise Ethernet is for you!
  • If you require Enterprise Ethernet for a large business with over 100 people, or internet for a school, we suggest browsing the higher speed tiers as well as contacting our support team to determine which plan suits your organisational needs.
  • You are supported by the nbn® Operations Centre who are dedicated to supporting businesses. They provide 24×7 assurance support and offer fast restoration options to all service providers with business nbn Enterprise Ethernet customers.
What is Enterprise Ethernet?

Enterprise Ethernet is a high-performance, dedicated internet connection specifically designed for businesses. It’s NBN Co’s fastest symmetrical wholesale product and premium-grade business offering. It has options for prioritised traffic, high capacity and symmetrical upload and download wholesale speeds from 10Mbps to close to 1Gbps, and a range of enhanced support options.

Find out more about Enterprise Ethernet here.

Are there more bundled speeds available?

Absolutely! This is just a sample of what we have available for Swoop Business Fixed Wireless and nbn® business fibre Bundles.

For more information, call our local business service team on 1300 224 600.

What are my Business support options?

All Swoop Business plans come with a standard Business-Grade SLA , with Bronze, Silver and Gold options available to order.

Additionally, the team at Swoop are backed by the business nbn® Operations Centre and business-grade delivery team.

How much does nbn® Enterprise Ethernet cost?

We are proud to offer affordable enterprise ethernet pricing. Our business Enterprise Ethernet has prices starting from only $399 per month. This allows you to gain access to high-speed internet with guaranteed symmetrical speeds, unlimited data, and Bronze SLAs, all for an affordable price.

How reliable is Enterprise Ethernet?

Enterprise Ethernet is highly reliable, with uptime guarantees often exceeding 99.95% due to dedicated fibre connections and robust SLAs. This ensures minimal disruptions and quick restoration of services in case of outages.

Is Enterprise Ethernet available in my area?

You can check availability by entering your business address here or give our local support team a call on 1300 224 600 to see if your location falls within an Enterprise Ethernet or Business Fibre Zone.

How does business nbn® installation work?

Home nbn® generally takes one week to install as long as the infrastructure has been laid during their build stage. Otherwise it can take up to 12-14 weeks during new development. Business nbn® follows the same timelines. However nbn® business ethernet is a different timeline, which usually takes around 50-80 business days – area depending.

Enterprise Ethernet uses fibre-optic cables to deliver high-speed internet. If your site is not already connected to a fibre network, then the physical laying of fibre cables from the nearest network point (like a junction or node) to your business is needed. This may involve running the cables underground or via overhead poles.

NBN Co. use local contracting cabling companies to complete the work that is required to build the fibre service to your premises. The installation process follows a number of stages, including planning and design, all the way through to installation and activation.

What hardware do I need for business nbn®?

The hardware you need for business nbn® depends on your location, as the network uses a mix of technologies to connect to you.

For example, some devices such as medical alarms, monitored fire alarms, and lift emergency phones need to be registered with the nbn® directly.

Other devices that may be synced with your Enterprise Ethernet connection include security systems, EFTPOS terminals, fax and teletypewriter devices, health claim terminals (HICAPS), and existing landline phone services.

You can contact our local support team for more information, to upgrade your business, or if you need some questions answered, on 1300 224 600.

What is a static IP address?

A static IP address is a permanent, unchanging IP address that is assigned to a device or computer. It can be used to identify a device on the Internet, allowing it to access and communicate with other devices on the same network.

Enterprise Ethernet services usually use a static IP address. This allows your business to benefit from a dedicated connection, which improves security, reliability, and ease of remote access.

Static IP addresses are necessary for certain applications such as online gaming, printer access over the network, to host your website or email server, remote desktop access and VoIP phone systems. They are also beneficial for businesses that require secure connections or need to host websites.

What is an eSLA?

An eSLA (electronic Service Level Agreement) is an agreement between a service provider (like Swoop) and a customer that outlines the level of service to be provided.

This document outlines the responsibilities of both parties, including performance metrics, customer support requirements, payment details, dispute resolution procedures, and other important details.

Importantly, it provides for a higher level of support for your business by having faster rectification on faults within a specified timeframe. It is also one of the beneficial features between a business-grade nbn® service compared with a residential-grade one.

Our support options include guaranteed business SLAs from 4 hours.

What is a SAG?

A SAG is a Service Agreement Guarantee and refers to our Enterprise Ethernet offering to guarantee an uptime of this Business Grade service. This ensures that our business clients can have the peace of mind that their service will be fully functional and operating during business hours and in time of need. This is a major factor that sets our nbn Enterprise Ethernet service above our other Business service offerings.

How many business nbn fibre zones are there?

In September 2020, the NBN Co announced the creation of 240 business nbn fibre zones as part of their $700m investment in network development.

As of 2024, 322 Business nbn® Fibre Zones can be found across the country. 142 are in regional areas. The Fibre Zones enable business access to high-speed internet, such as Enterprise Ethernet. Each Fibre Zone allows businesses to connect with no upfront build costs.
