Swoop press release – nbn® 1000

press release

Eight hundred more East Coast towns and suburbs to be eligible for Swoop’s new nbn® 1000 plan this year

On Australia’s East Coast, hundreds of thousands more households and businesses will soon be able to sign up for Swoop’s new 1000/50 Mbps Home Ultrafast plan

NBN Co has released a list of the areas to be eligible for fibre to the premises (FTTP) this year, and it includes more than 800 suburbs and towns across Queensland, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Victoria.

When that stage of the rollout is complete, the households and businesses in those areas will have the option to connect to Swoop’s nbn® 1000/50 Mbps Home Ultrafast plan. This is the fastest home internet plan in the country and will mark a huge upgrade for the premises in question.

“Our new Home Ultrafast plan leverages the nbn®’s FTTP technology to offer incredibly fast and reliable internet connectivity to homes and businesses, supported by our local Customer support teams” said David Michaels, Swoop’s Head of Sales and Marketing.

“As more businesses rely on cloud technology and digital conferencing, more people run businesses from home, and more of our everyday activities are done online, we are seeing a greater need for lightning fast and super reliable internet connections.

“We’re thrilled that NBN is rolling out FTTP across the country and we’ll be able to offer our nbn® 1000 plan to more customers this year. We’re looking forward to offering this amazing connection to 90% of Australia by 2025,” commented Mr Michaels.

To trigger an upgrade at eligible premises, customers just need to place an order for one of the three fastest residential speed tiers. This includes Swoop’s nbn® 1000 Home Ultrafast plan (aka gigabit internet), and nbn® 250 Home Super Fast plans, as well as the Business nbn® 1000 and Business nbn™ 500 plans.

The nbn® 1000 plan is the fastest nbn® speed available for residential addresses in Australia.  The maximum download speed for this plan is 1000 megabits per second (Mbps), which is equal to one gigabit (Gbps) – hence the nickname ‘gigabit internet’.

NBN® 1000 can only be accessed via FTTP, which was available to around 5.1 million premises across Australia last year. A million more around the country are due to be connected in 2023, with 90% of premises to be connected by the end of 2025. See NBN Co for the full list of suburbs and towns where an additional million premises will be eligible for full fibre.

Swoop’s nbn® 1000 plan will be particularly beneficial to households with multiple internet users, home offices and heavy demands on broadband.

To find out whether their premises are eligible for nbn® 1000, customers can check their address here. If their property is not yet eligible for the Home Ultrafast plan, they can check the anticipated date for their address to be covered on NBN Co’s website.
